Introduction: It is unquestionable that physical activity has positive effects on
health. Large body of evidence has shown that physical activity helps to reduce
ilness and improves psyhical state at all age groups.
Methods: A systematic literature search of the published literature was con-
ducted at Slovenian libraries with Cobiss, we also used some databases (Sci-
enceDirect, Wiley Online Library, MEDLINE, CINAHL, Cochrane, PubMed).
We used descriptive method with literature rewiew to make meta-analysis.
The review was restricted to studies published since 2007 to 2017.
Results: Physical activity positively influences body mucsular structure, cardi-
ovascular risk factors, diabetes, hypertension, obesity and dyslipidaemia. Ac-
tivity also reduces the incidence of osteoporosis and improwes function of im-
mune system and blood circulation in brains, mental function is better. Indeed,
physical activity helps to improve mental health and prevent depression, de-
mentia.
Discussion and conlusions: In conclusion, these results highlight the important
role of physical activity in the protection of mental functions of eldery. But the
geriatric population is less likely to be regulary active. As the number of elder-
ly persons in our community increase, more attention is being given to physi-
cal activity at elderly.
