Dr. Sabina Škrgat graduated from the Faculty of
Medicine at the University of Ljubljana (1996). She is
a specialist in internal medicine (2004) and pneu-
monology (2011). Dr. Škrgat earned her PhD degree
at the University of Ljubljana (2009) with the topic of
investigation related to angiogenesis and complement
activation in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmo-
nary disease.
Her main clinical work consists of the management of
patients with severe asthma and other obstructive
lung diseases. She is currently a clinical lead od severe
asthma service at University Medical Centre Ljublja-
na, she is active as a national lead for Severe Heterog-
enous Asthma Research collaboration, Patient-cen-
tred (SHARP) ERS Clinical Research. She has been
a coordinator for astma and severe asthma National
asthma reccomendations. Development of coordinat-
ed multidisciplinary approach to severe asthma
patients and COPD and development of strategies
toward lowering sistemic glucocorticoides load in
Slovenia are her activities at national level for better
treatment of these chronic airway diseases.
