in their kitchen. Only those who expressed dissatisfaction with their kitch-
ens answered this question. Those who were dissatisfied with the functional-
ity of their furniture and lighting identified elements as: inadequate lighting
over the kitchen work surfaces and inside the cupboards, inappropriate height
of shelves, oven, refrigerator, troublesome cleaning set-up (e.g. contact between
wall and work surface, contact between work surface and kitchen appliances),
inadequate handle design (e.g. too small, slippery, fall off, in the way), hard-to-
reach places in the corners or shelves under the cupboards.
