In this period, the repertoire had been subject to change in terms of
featured composers, as well as remained unchanged for several seasons.
The Slovenian music criticism in daily newspapers did point out and ela-
borate on these changes (as well as standstills) in the repertoire. In regard
to the activity and variety of the SNG repertoire (and the critique there-
of), we can divide the post–World-War II repertoire of SNG Opera Lju-
bljana into the following four time periods: 1945–1948, 1949–1953, 1954–
1958, and 1959–1963. This classification is used throughout the following
sections of the paper.
