and the curtain falls to the sound of two swaying orchestral chords whose so-
nority is Impressionist rather than Expressionist. The audience in the theatre
or the viewer in front of the television screen will feel a subtly disengaged and
at the same time overwhelming emotion from this swaying chord as it gradu-
ally fades away. Similarly, I do not feel capable of adding any conclusion to the
above lines: I withdraw with deep reverence towards a great composer.
