jonov ljudi. Prispevek budizma mahajana k temu skupnemu cilju je, da
nas spodbuja, naj razvijamo sočutje, ljubezen, potrpežljivost in druge
pozitivne lastnosti, glavni cilj pa je razviti bodičito ter doseči budovstvo,
stanje, v katerem bomo pomagali vsem bitjem brez omejitev prostora in
časa. To lepo povzame tudi en najbolj znanih verzov Śāntideve, ki naj
služi tudi kot končna misel tega članka:

Dokler bo obstajal prostor,
in dokler bodo obstajala čuteča bitja,
dotlej naj ostanem tudi jaz,
da razblinim bedo tega sveta.
